Why Are Arrow Global Contacting Me?
If you have been contacted by Arrow Global, it is because they have purchased your debt from your previous credit provider and believe you owe money.
You may be wondering why you have never heard of Arrow Global before, but it should say on your Notice of Assignment who your original debt was with.
If Arrow Global have purchased your debt, you now owe the balance on your account to Arrow Global rather than your previous credit provider.
How Can I Stop Letter & Phone Calls From Arrow Global?
You will not be able to stop all contact, but there are several ways to reduce it and prevent nuisance calls. Don’t ignore letters – they might contain important information and deadlines which, if missed, could cause you further debt problems.
The first thing to do if you are contacted by Arrow Global is establish the original debt that this relates to. It should say on your Notice of Assignment.
- Communicate only in writing – This ensures that all correspondence is recorded and can be used in legal proceedings if necessary. It also prevents a ‘he said, she said’ scenario.
- Request extra time to pay – If you explain to the debt collection company that you are struggling to make repayments, they will likely give you some extra time.
- Seek advice – don’t struggle with your debts alone. There are debt specialists like Scottishtrustdeed.co.uk who can advise you on the best way to manage your debt.
What Happens If I Don’t Pay?
If Arrow Global have contacted you, don’t panic and don’t ignore the problem – it is always better to talk to the debt collection agency, even if you can’t afford to pay.
If you fail to respond, you put yourself at risk of legal action being taken against you and escalating costs putting you further in debt.
Choosing to ignore your debts is also likely to cause further damage to your credit file.
You should contact Arrow Global to discuss your circumstances, even if you don’t think you can pay. It may be helpful at this stage to seek advice on your debts from a debt specialist like Scottishtrustdeed.co.uk.
Make sure you don’t enter into an agreement with Arrow without first making sure you can reasonably afford the repayments.
Will I Have To Pay Interest Or Fees On The Money I Owe?
If your credit account has been defaulted before it was purchased by Arrow Global, they will not normally charge interest or fees on your account from the date that Arrow Global acquired it, unless required to by court or other contractual obligations.
I Can’t Afford To Pay Arrow Global
If you can’t afford to pay, you need to discuss your financial situation with Arrow Global – explain your circumstances and why you feel unable to pay. It would help if you have a budget to show them.
Working Out A Budget
To make sure you’re not committing to repayments you can’t afford, you should make a budget.
A budget will help you (and the debt collection agency) see what you can reasonably afford, so you don’t leave yourself unable to meet the monthly repayments.
You want to avoid causing yourself further issues, while making sure you can still meet day-to-day living expenses. When working out a budget you need to think about your income versus your expenditure.
- Income: Wages, benefits, pension, tax credits
- Expenditure: Rent/mortgage, utilities, insurances, groceries, existing debt repayments etc.
You must also give consideration to inflation and the rising cost of living. You are likely to be paying off your debts for a number of months or years so what is only just affordable now, could be crippling in a couple of years’ time.
- You can find more information on how to calculate living expenses here.
How Can Scottishtrustdeed.co.uk Help Me?
Scottishtrustdeed.co.uk are one of the leading debt advice companies and can help with a variety of solutions. If you have £1,000 worth of debt or £100,000, we can help you find a solution to get it paid off.
We can negotiate with your creditors on your behalf and look to get interest and charges frozen which will allow you more time to repay the debt.
If you have a lump sum of cash, then a good option would be a full and final settlement for a reduced amount. In some cases, we’ve negotiated debts down to 50% of their total value.
If you have a large sum of debt then we can look to get a portion of it legally written off using the legislated trust deed scheme, for which we specialise in.
Contact Us here for more information or use our debt calculator to see if you qualify for this solution.
What Can Arrow Global Do If I Don’t Pay?
Arrow Global must follow strict rules laid down by the Financial Conduct Authority and Credit Services Association.
Debt collection agencies have no additional legal powers to the original creditor the debt was with and are different to bailiffs. There are a number of things Arrow Global can’t do, such as:
- Can’t make threatening and excessive calls
- Can’t state they have powers which they don’t have
- Can’t take things out of your property
- Can’t talk to anyone else about your debts, only you
- Can’t overcharge you with fees
They can do the following:
- Keep contacting you requesting payment
- Send people to your doorstep to try and collect debts
- Add reasonable interest and charges
- Issue default notices
- Apply for a County Court Judgement (CCJ)
What if Arrow Global Send Agents To My Home?
If debt collection agents turn up on your doorstep, it’s always advisable to ask for ID and make a note of the agent’s name. You don’t have to answer the door and you don’t have to let anyone in.
Debt collection agents, unlike bailiffs, CANNOT enter your home uninvited AND, if you do invite them in, they MUST leave if you ask them to. They’re NOT allowed to remove your possessions from the house.
If you do decide to invite Arrow Global agents in, explain your circumstances and never agree to pay more than you can afford. Show them your budget (if you have one) or ask for time to make one/ seek advice on your debts.
If you are going to make a payment, do this directly to Arrow Global over the phone. Avoiding paying the agents gives them less incentive to visit again.
Finally, if you do pay the agent at your home, make sure you get a receipt.
