Why Are JC International Acquisition Contacting Me?
If you’ve been contacted by JC International Acquisition, it is probably in relation to a debt you owe. JCIA are employed by their clients to collect money on their behalf. If you don’t recognise the name on the letter, it is probably because your original debt was with another company, though you should be told where the debt is from. It is important to check you agree with the details of any debt in your name.
Who Do JC International Acquisition Work With?
JCIA work with CARS (Creditlink Account Recovery Services Limited), as a UK debt collection agency. They collect debts on behalf of a range of companies from phone providers to banks.
What Will Happen If I Ignore The Letters?
Ignoring correspondence from JCIA could cause their client to decide to take court action against you. Leaving letters unopened or unanswered won’t make your debt disappear, and could potentially cause you further financial harm.
What If I Can’t Afford To Pay?
If you can’t afford to pay, you should contact JCIA to discuss your circumstances and see if you can make a payment arrangement with them. You should work out a budget first, so you know how much you can afford.
Never feel pressured into accepting a payment plan that you can’t manage – you could make your situation worse if you go on to miss payments.
What Can JC International Acquisition Do If I Don’t Pay?
JC International Acquisition must adhere to strict rules laid down by the Financial Conduct Authority and Credit Services Association. Debt collection agencies have no additional legal powers above those of the original creditor. Debt collection agencies (DCAs) are also different to bailiffs. There are a number of things a DCA can’t do, such as:
- harass you
- mislead you or lie to you about their legal powers
- remove your goods from your house
- discuss your debt with anyone else without your permission
- claim excessive or unfair collection charges
But they can:
- chase you for payment
- send doorstep collectors called field agents
- add reasonable interest and charges
- issue default notices
- apply for a County Court Judgement (CCJ)
Is My Debt Too Old To Be Collected? Could My Debt Be ‘Statute-Barred’?
If a creditor waits too long to chase you for money you owe, the debt may become unenforceable. The Limitations Act of 1980 sets a time limit for creditors to act, because it is deemed unfair for creditors to wait several years before chasing you for payment.
For most types of unsecured debt in England, Wales and Northern Ireland, the time limit is six years. Rules in Scotland around statute-barring differ, and the normal limit period there is five years.
A debt could be statute-barred if, during the limit period:
- the creditor has not obtained a County Court Judgement against you
- you have not made any payments towards the debt
- you have not written to the creditor acknowledging the debt
If you’ve been contacted about a debt that is several years old, you should seek advice from a professional debt specialist like Scottishtrustdeed.co.uk.
How Do I Stop JC International Acquisition?
When Debt Collection Agencies are chasing you, the easiest way to put a stop to them is to pay up. Of course, this is not always feasible. There are a few other things you can do to reduce contact from JCIA down to the bare minimum:
- Request everything is put into writing
- Ask for breathing space
- Seek advice
Asking for all important information to be sent to you in writing should eliminate unwanted phone calls and automated text messages. Asking for ‘breathing space’ should give you 30 days’ reprieve from JCIA, during which time you will only receive communications which JCIA are required to send by law.
Breathing space is designed to take the pressure off while you seek professional debt advice. If you are struggling to manage your debts, you needn’t do it alone – getting advice could help you get debt-free.

What Will Happen To My Credit Rating?
Unpaid debts will have a negative impact on your credit rating and may affect your ability to get credit in the future or the rates lenders will offer. However, your credit rating is repairable. There are a number of simple steps you can take to begin getting your score back on track.
It’s a good idea to check your credit record with a credit reference agency to see where you stand. This will show you what lenders see when they look at your credit history, and may bring to your attention other debts you were unaware of or had forgotten about.
You can improve your rating by ensuring all your details are correct and up-to-date, registering to vote and ensuring bill payments are made on time. You can also build your score back up with credit cards for bad credit – just make sure you clear the balance in full and on time each month.
You should also be careful not to make too many credit applications, as these show on your file and it doesn’t look good to prospective lenders if you’ve been rejected several times in a short period.

If you are unhappy with your treatment from JC International Acquisitions, you can make a complaint to them. JCIA will try to resolve all complaints as quickly as possible, but you should definitely be given a Final Response within 56 days of receipt of your complaint.
